The facility is located next to train tracks and the client operates a film studio. Due to the frequency of the train service, filming was a challenge as the vibration was constantly disrupting recording sessions. To remedy the situation, Ubisoft wanted to construct a soundproof building expansion. While essentially part of the building, the expansion is completely isolated from existing structure to eliminate sound transfer.
To support the project, the existing loading dock was excavated and reconfigured. The space required an open concept conducive to filming, so reinforcements were installed to avoid using central support columns.
We finished the space with custom acoustic ceiling and sound blankets at perimeter walls, as well as a stage / control center to accommodate equipment and technicians. We took a phased approach to construction to eliminate winterization costs.
